During the Uzbek-Finnish Business Forum on October 31, a portfolio of joint projects totaling over €1 billion was formed. The matter was discussed during a meeting between the presidents of the two countries, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Stubb, in Tashkent, the press service of the Uzbek head of state reported.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Finland reviewed prospects for further multifaceted cooperation, primarily in political, trade and economic, investment, and humanitarian areas.
Mirziyoyev and Stubb noted the dynamic development of dialogue between the countries and exchanges at various levels, as well as the establishment of close business contacts. In particular, mutual trade volumes are growing, economic ties are strengthening, the Nordic University operates successfully in Tashkent, and programs in school education are being implemented.
The parties discussed opportunities for a multiple increase in trade transactions, including through the creation of a joint Financing Fund to stimulate mutual supply of goods and services.
The presidents also supported initiatives to open certification laboratories to promote Uzbek agricultural and textile products to European Union markets.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in sectors such as geology and critical minerals, energy, agriculture, digitalization, artificial intelligence, ecology, tourism, education, medicine, and labor migration.
Agreements were reached to hold the next session of the Intergovernmental Commission in 2026, establish a Business Council, and organize the first Forum of Rectors and Innovations.
Following the talks, Mirziyoyev and Stubb signed a Joint Statement. In the presence of the leaders, agreements were also concluded on several priority areas of partnership between Uzbekistan and Finland.
